Hawzah News Agency- Hujjat al-Islam Abbasi president of Al-Mustafa International University had a meeting with the Board of Indian Scholars on Wednesday, June 28 during which he elaborated on ways to enhance Islamic unity and said, “Iran and India as well as the people of these two countries have had deep historical ties for many centuries, and these historical ties provide the ground for the development of future cooperation.”
Referring to the common cultural backgrounds of Iran and India, he noted, “Persian as a common language among the people of this region, was widely used in the Indian subcontinent for centuries and even writers in different historic periods of Persian language, have mentioned the Indian style and prominent poets and writers In India and valuable literary texts in Persian have been left; this shows the depth of historical and cultural relations between the two countries. Based on these historical ties, warm relations have been established between the two countries, and the holding of this meeting is an instance for such cooperation.”
Hujjat al-Islam Abbasi then introduced Al-Mustafa International University to Indian Scholars and added,” Al-Mustafa is an international Islamic university that was formed after the Islamic Revolution and today we are training scholars from 135 different nationalities.”
Referring to the membership of Al-Mustafa University in the prestigious academic unions of the world, he reminded, “Al-Mustafa University offers educational courses in more than 160 disciplines in the three fields of Islamic sciences, humanities as well as language and culture.
“The doors of Al-Mustafa University are open to all those interested in studying Islamic sciences and knowledge, and in the internal and external units of Al-Mustafa University, there are followers of other Islamic religions and who study religious sciences based on the teachings of their respected religions.” He added.
The President of Al-Mustafa University introduced Al-Mustafa Virtual University and the Institute for Short-Term Education and Study Opportunities and said, "Currently, thousands of students are studying in Al-Mustafa Virtual University and the Institute for Short-Term Education and Study Opportunities annually welcomes a large number of university professors and researchers.”
He considered the basic strategy of Al-Mustafa University as emphasizing the issue of rapprochement and unity among Islamic sects and emphasized, “This strategy, which is against the policy of Takfirism and extremism, is emphasized and given serious attention by Al-Mustafa University. “
“The realization of new Islamic civilization and the reviving the era of Islamic cultural glory in the world is the main purpose of the Islamic Revolution, the leaders of the revolution as well as Al-Mustafa University, which will be achieved only with the support and unity of all Islamic religions.” He concluded.
It must be noted that The Darul Uloom Deoband is an Islamic seminary in India at which the Sunni Deobandi Islamic movement began. It is located in Deoband, a town in Saharanpur district, Uttar Pradesh. The seminary was established by Muhammad Qasim Nanautavi, Fazlur Rahman Usmani, Sayyed Muhammad Abid and others in 1866.
